CHISM LEON FELKER JR, K/75 RANGER PASSED AWAY OCTOBER 18, 2022

Chism Leon Felker Jr., 72, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away on October 18, 2022 at his home.


Chism was born on August 31, 1950 in Winona, MS. He was the second of five children born to Chism and Dorothy (Pendergrast) Felker. He was raised in Fairview, OR. He graduated from Reynolds High School with the Class of 1968.


Immediately after high school, Chism attended Mt Hood College. In 1969, he joined the United States Army and served his country for over 3 years.  As an Army Ranger, he served two tours in Viet Nam where he received a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.


In 1983, Chism met his future wife, Carol. They were married in 1987 and made their first home in Cherry Grove. Together they had two children; Nick and Chelsea. They later divorced.


Chism worked as a Correctional Officer at Oregon State Penitentiary, later for Stimson Lumber and also as a courier (Sodexo) for the Public School District.


He enjoyed watching sports and loved watching his children in their activities. Chism also enjoyed reading, doing puzzles,playing the lottery, and growing tomatoes. He loved most, spending time with his family and grandchildren.


He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his children; Nick, Chelsea, four sisters; Holly, Judy, Janet, Tammy, two grandchildren; Bowen, Calvin and many nieces and nephews.
