NORWALK — Joseph Terry Baltes, 69, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, at his home. He is the son of the late John and Benadette Baltes. Joe was the owner and operator of Baltes Construction Company in New London, Ohio, upon retirement in 2000, Joe and his wife Lois, moved to the Florida Keys, where his passion was both ocean and gulf water fishing. His greatest joy was sharing this passion with many family and friends who visited. After graduating from St. Paul High School in 1968, Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam war as a LRRP (Long Range Recognizance Patrol). He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroism on ground combat and the Air Medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight. Joe was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2743 in Norwalk, he enjoyed landscaping, wood working, traveling, going out to dinner, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Joe is survived by the love of his life, Lois (Schneiter) Baltes, of Norwalk, Ohio, by his son, Ryan (Coleen) Baltes, of North Canton, Ohio, by his daughters, Linda (Vern) Brant and Laurie (Mike) Moyer, both of Norwalk, Ohio, by his grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, Caroline, Cecilia, Jeremiah, and John. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Christian, Charlotte, and Oakley, by his sister Mary (Walter) Rogers, of Fort Worth, Texas and by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. in Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio. Pastor Charles Conrad will officiate. Donations in Joe’s honor may be made to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870, or to the donor’s favorite charity.
