Loving Memory of Robert “Bob” Fraser ~ October 5, 1946 – December 5, 2025
Robert William “Bob” Fraser, 79, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, December 5, 2025. A devoted father, decorated veteran, and successful entrepreneur, Bob lived a life defined by resilience, service, and a deep commitment to his community.
Born in Steubenville, Ohio, Bob graduated from Steubenville High School in 1964 and shortly after returning home from his time in the military, completed his studies at Ohio University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.
Bob proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Ranger during the Vietnam War (1968–1970). A courageous leader, he served as a Team Leader and member of the elite Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) with Company K, 75th Infantry. He played a vital role in special operations and deep-reconnaissance missions, returning home with honor in March 1970.
Bob noted that his greatest achievement from leading a team in Vietnam is that he never lost a man. Bob was awarded a number of prestigious awards and medals, including Airborne Wings, the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal (VSM), the Air Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) Medal, the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross, and the Bronze Star Medal. Bob attended many annual Army Ranger reunions, which he noted as having a great impact on healing invisible wounds. Bob was a lifetime member of the 75th Ranger Regiment Association.
In 1970, he planted his roots in Atlanta, Georgia, which would become his lifelong home. Bob possessed a natural gift for sales and business. His career began in the apparel industry, where he represented major brands like Donmore and Ocean Pacific (OP) throughout the 1970s and 80s. In 1987, he launched his own surfwear company, Off the Top. He sold the company in 1997, but only lasted in retirement until June 1998, when he reinvented his professional path, founding North Georgia Concrete (NGC) and building it into a premier residential and commercial concrete finishing company. His oldest son Michael began working with NGC in 2010 and continues to successfully run the company today.
One of Bob’s great passions was sports, especially cheering on his favorite football teams. An avid golfer since high school, Bob could often be found on the fairways of Pinetree and Arrowhead Country Clubs. He loved the game and traveled to play legendary courses, including St. Andrews, Torrey Pines, and East Lake.
Bob was also a dedicated and long-time friend of Bill W. For over 41 years, he cherished the support and camaraderie of the fellowship. He found his greatest purpose in helping others navigate their own journeys of recovery, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
Above all, Bob loved his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) and Marjorie Fraser. He leaves behind a legacy of love survived by his two sons, Michael (Colette) and Patrick (Zerrin); his stepchildren, Jennifer Lee Chin and William Hudson (Tiffany); seven beloved grandchildren; his brothers, Jim (Joyce) and Bruce (Kris), and their families.
Services
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Poole Funeral Home in Woodstock, Georgia, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM. There will be a reception at the funeral home following the service.
Bob will be laid to rest with military honors at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, in a private ceremony.
From Wayne Mitsch: ~ Bob passed away this morning after a fierce battle and complications with ALS. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family. I was fortunate to have spent part of Wednesday with Bob at the hospice facility along with his son Mike and 3 of Bob’s best friends. Bob lived life large, was always worthy of a laugh and most certainly will be missed at our reunions.

From Rachel Fraser: Bob was a son, Father, Stepfather, Grandfather and Friend. He was an Army Ranger, A longtime member of AA, His natural abilities and competitive nature made some of his favorite sports a good time for banter with friends. The love he had for his kids, step kids, and grandkids and the loyalty to his friends was remarkable. Bob, was loved by so many and will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace!
