City of residence was Broadview, Illinois, grave site is in Forest Park, Illinois.
Parents Walter and Shirley, siblings, Cindy, Tom, and Skip. His wife/widow, Kitty and children Kelly and Steve Jr. His grandchildren's names, Steven III, Dylan and Madalyn.
Steve enlisted in the Army in 67, went to Vietnam in 68, proudly served as a LRRP/Ranger. He made it home and got married, had two children, then in May71 he lost his battle with PTSD and took his own life. When it first happened, I hated him for what he did. I always told people that he was KIA. I could not tell anyone the reason was PTSD because it was unheard of back then. Then after I talked to his brother LRRPS, they helped me understand why Steve did what he did and now I am proud to tell everyone how he died and he was a hero.
I want to thank all of his brothers for helping me understand and considering me one of their own. There is not one day in the last 45 years that I don't think of Steve. I miss him more than you can ever know but with the help of his fellow LRRP/Rangers it makes it easier. Thanks so much and thanks you all from the bottom of my heart for your service. I know Steve was not alone over there because of you guys.
